answering the call to healthy masculinity

the world needs men to heal - the world needs you to act

Making Peace with Masculinity started from a deep friendship and a liberating realization: we become free and full of life when we feel truly safe with other men, with ourselves, and with the people we love. We bring people together to learn with and from each other to cultivate an embodied masculinity that is not defined by conquest, but instead is rooted in loving kindness, fierce courage, deep vulnerability and collaborative strength.

We are men on all parts of the gender continuum and expression, taking responsibility for how we show up in the world. Inspired by visionaries like bell hooks who wrote, “to heal, men must learn to feel again,” we curate gatherings for masculine identifying folks to join in co-creating a healthy masculinity for and with our beloved men, women, masc, femme, and more than human relatives.

We are John Helmiere and Ben Mustin; deep friends, coaches, artists, and depth guides. We started Making Peace with Masculinity to share our belief in the power and beauty of healthy masculinity to heal ourselves and to liberate each other from the narrow confines of patriarchy.

Our Making Peace with Masculinity events bring together masculine folks to learn and experience embodiment, play, deep connection and community. Through play, connection to nature, vulnerable discussion and creativity, our events provide a space to experience what liberated masculinity looks and feels like.

Create a new story for your masculinity. play in the woods. be heard. connect with men who give a sh*t. take responsibility for yourself and learn…

Our vision is to cultivate transformative experiences that initiate and support men in their growth towards healthy, peaceful, generative masculinity that is co-created with and for our beloved men, women, masc, femme, young, elder and more than human relatives and loved ones.

We work in service of a world where our fellow men can show up fully; healthy, happy, safe and strong enough to embody lives of loving kindness, fierce courage, deep vulnerability, and collaborative strength.
